Effect editor

The effect editor allows to load an existing effect and modify it, or to create a completely new effect using the available elements.

Controls

Control positioning button The positioning mode allows to add new elements from the menu, to move them in the editor, and to connect them together.
Control settings button The setting mode allows to change the value of some elements, for example to adjust a potentiometer or to turn a rotary switch.
Control delete button The delete mode allows to remove elements from the graph.

Elements

Generators

Menu generators The generators menu regroups the basic elements that can generate sound.

For all generators, the 'frequency' input determines the generated frequency on the base of 1 volt per octave, with 0V corresponding to the C4 note. Therefore, 1V will be C5, -1V will be C3, and so on. Fractional voltages allow to obtain intermediary frequencies, with 1/12V between each note of the chromatic scale. More precisely, the frequency F is established using the formula F = F0 * 2^('frequency') with F0 = 261.63 Hz (frequency of C4).

Menu operators The operator menu offers elements that perform mathematical operations between their inputs.

Filters

Menu filter elements The filter menu regroups the elements than can filter sound.

Low-pass icon Low-pass Low-pass filter : the 'quality' input sets the quality factor and the 'frequency' input sets the cut-off frequency.

High-pass icon High-pass High-pass filter : the 'quality' input sets the quality factor and the 'frequency' input sets the cut-off frequency.

Band Pass icon Band Pass Band-pass filter : the 'quality' input sets the quality factor and the 'frequency' input sets the resonance frequency.

Band Stop icon Band Stop Notch filter : the 'quality' input sets the quality factor and the 'frequency' input sets the stopband center frequency.

Resonator icon Resonator Resonator filter : the 'quality' input sets the quality factor and the 'frequency' input sets the resonance frequency. A 'quality' value > 1 produces resonance and a 'quality' value < 1 produces damping. (a 'quality' value = 1 produces no effect).

Envelope icon Envelope Envelope filter : This filter controls the output amplitude according to a standard Attack-Decay-Sustain-Release shape. The Attack phase is triggered when 'gate' becomes > 0.5. The Sustain phases is prolonged as long as the 'gate' > 0.5. When 'gates' becomes < 0.5, the filter enters the Release phase and the amplitude goes back to 0.

Compressor icon Compressor Compressor filter : this filter reduces the dynamic range of the signal : low sounds are amplified more than loud sounds. The strength of the effect depends on the "strength" input parameter, and is stronger when this parameter is close to 1. When "strength" is equal to 0 this filter has no effect.
